Mango Yogurt (Aam Doi)

This summer I went to Kolkata with my little one for a vacation. Summer is the season of mangos back home, and we devoured enough for the whole year! We had mangoes as fruit, as well as many desserts made with it. Kolkata is popular for “Misti Doi” that is sweet yogurt dessert, but this time we tasted “Aam Doi” that is mango yogurt. This mango flavored yogurt is made of real mangoes and every known sweet shop had its slight variation the flavor. To my surprise, my little one was taken entirely by the taste of the “Amm Doi”, and we almost tried every day of our first-week “Amm Doi” from different sweet shops. But unfortunately, towards the end of the vacation, mango season passed and so did the mango yogurt from those shops. My little one was quite disappointed that he can not have “Amm Doi” anymore, so I thought of giving it a try at home after coming back.
The recipe is very simple and easy to make. It’s kind of funny as my son points it out, I am making yogurt from yogurt, but I don’t really mind, as long as it tastes the same or close to the original.

I have used Alphonso Mango pulp and low-fat plain yogurt, but if you want you can definitely use fresh sweet mangos and make the pulp at home, and flavor it in your daily yogurt setting. But I am happy with this rendition, and hope you will like it too.
